What is Informed Jobs?

Informed Jobs is a unique jobs database that prioritizes transparent and detailed job posts for speech–language pathologists. Importantly, we ask the questions that SLPs want answered. Informed Jobs also provides career advice resources for SLPs to find and negotiate jobs that work for them.

Employers who post at Informed Jobs commit to minimum transparency requirements to reach a broad, thriving SLP audience.

FAQs for Speech-Language Pathologists

What is Informed Jobs?

Informed Jobs is a job database for speech–language pathologists– just like Indeed or Ziprecruiter, but with two key differences:

  1. The database is built for SLPs, and therefore includes information organized by what SLPs need to know;
  2. Employers posting jobs with us are required to fill out transparency surveys. We exclude jobs from our database that are: not reasonably transparent, not legal, extremely low pay, or posted by employers with a history of mistreatment of SLPs.

We also support SLPs with understanding jobs and employment better.

Is Informed Jobs free for speech–language pathologists (SLPs)?

Yes, and our goal is to keep it permanently free for SLPs! We’re paid by the employers who post jobs here.

Are non-SLP jobs posted on Informed Jobs?

Not yet. Currently, Informed Jobs is accepting only:

  • Clinical SLP roles
  • Non-clinical SLP roles (e.g. creating courses for a CE provider in our field)
  • Or Supervisory/Administrative roles that are open to SLPs

We’re presently excluding:

  • University jobs, unless they’re non-faculty roles
  • SLPA jobs
  • And other professions (e.g. OT, PT), though we intend to add these later on.

Are non-US jobs posted on Informed Jobs?

Not at this time. We will open up the jobs board internationally at a later date, one country at a time.

If we have concerns about a job posted or a company listed, what do we do?

We definitely want to hear from you if you see a job posting that you feel is inaccurate or inappropriate in any way! Email contact@informedjobs.com.

Our goal is to protect SLPs in the job search process, and we can only do that with your feedback.

How do you ensure the information that employers post is reliable and true?

By relying on SLPs to tell us when it’s not, and then blocking employers who repeatedly lie or violate our rules.

When you apply for a job, we highly recommend you print out or save the job listing! If employers change the terms of the job later in the hiring process, or once you’re working for them, please reach out to us to report that.

Does Informed Jobs allow all employers to post jobs?

We allow all employers who follow our posting transparency rules to post.

See what is required of employers at www.informedjobs.com/post-a-job.

Things that will exclude employers from posting in our database include but are not limited to:

  • Extremely low wages
  • Impossible, unethical, or illegal productivity requirements
  • Lack of disclosure of critical job information
  • Repeated reports (from SLPs) of lying or misrepresentation within job posts
  • Illegal job listings (e.g. offering a contractor benefits)
  • And anything else that our HR and/or SLP staff members deem to be egregiously unfair, dishonest, or abusive.

What are your requirements for employers to be able to post on Informed Jobs?

See what is required of employers at www.informedjobs.com/post-a-job.

Why are only some jobs highlighted on social media? How do you choose them?

Currently, our team is hand-selecting what we feel are top jobs to feature on our website and social media. Which jobs we highlight at this time is entirely at the discretion of our team.

Later, we may also allow employers to pay to highlight jobs. When we do this, clear disclosure of the promotion will be required.

How do I post a job on this jobs board?

Visit www.informedjobs.com/post-a-job for instructions.

If I submit an application to post a job, is it guaranteed to be posted?

No. And this is something that makes our site unique compared to other job databases. On most job websites, employers can post anything they want. But Informed Jobs is a trusted resource for SLPs because we filter out job postings that are illegal, unethical, or incomplete in any way.

Once you apply to post, we will reply to you within 5-7 business days that your job post is either:

  • Accepted = We have no questions for you (or minor questions) and will send the draft post to you for approval.
  • Requested edits = You left out required information, or what you provided was unclear or confusing to our team. We’ll provide you with a list of what needs to be edited or clarified.
  • Rejected = We reserve the right to reject posts because they are illegal, unethical, or incomplete in any way. See our full posting criteria in the Employer Dashboard at www.informedjobs.com/post-a-job

Please note that the fastest way to get your job quickly accepted and published is to simply fill out everything on our application, thoroughly and honestly! And if something doesn’t apply to your job or cannot be filled out, briefly explain why. If you do that, you’ll move through our intake process very quickly.

If I don’t know a job detail that’s requested in the application, should I guess?

No. If you don’t know a detail that we’re asking for in the application, simply write “unknown”, “not applicable”, or similar.

If we hear feedback from SLPs that a job offer differs significantly from posting details, your company will be contacted and flagged, and repeated occurrences of this may cause you (and/or your company) to be blocked from posting in our database.

What happens if my job posts are repeatedly rejected?

We will always tell you exactly why your job posts are rejected, so that you can either fix it or choose to post elsewhere.
